Common Questions

Can I commission an alcohol painting from you?

At the moment I'm exclusively accepting commissions for 18 x 24 inch or larger encaustic paintings.

What is encaustic anyway?

Glad you asked! Encaustic is an ancient process of painting with melted beeswax and damar resin mixed with dry pigments or oil paint. Encaustic is a wild medium that requires discipline and skill to master. No two paintings will ever be exactly the same.

Beeswax is a natural medium that requires an ebb and flow. The melted wax guides me as I paint, fuse with fire, and cool. After repeating this process over and over, a moody abstract painting emerges from the layers.

My paintings are not meant as a realistic representation but rather emotions evoked from the original inspiration.

What if I need more revisions to get the painting just right?

I'm happy to accomodate additional rounds of revisions at the hourly rate I'm managing at the time of the request.

Can you tell me more about shipping?

Sure! It's impossible to predict the weight of an encaustic painting because it can vary based on the number of layers applied. Since shipping rates are calculated based on weight, destination, and speed, I'll calculate and invoice the shipping only once the painting is complete.

Because encaustic is a temperature sensitive medium it must be shipped either 1 or 3 day depending on the temperatures, season, and destination.
